Extract from a documentary about the work of the Somali Women’s Group 2004

I was commissioned to produce a short documentary about the work of the SWG based in Lodge Lane Liverpool.

The SWG held a cultural events day and invited leading figures from the community to celebrate Somali culture. The event was very well attended and went far in breaking down barriers and opening up dialogues.

The SWG later allowed the the video produced to be used by immigration officers at Liverpool airport to explain to Somali visitors to Liverpool where assistance could be found within Liverpool for Somali speakers.

The video also enabled the SWG to successfully apply for funding to assist them in there work within the community of Liverpool 8.
