Imagine mental health 2004

I was commissioned to produce 4 short documentaries upon the subject of Mental Health Care. Imagine is a leading mental health charity working primarily in the north west of England, which has a positive approach to mental health and works to promote opportunities for people to live a full and independent life.

Established in the 1970s, when starting to provide pioneering accommodation, social support and day services for people who experience mental ill health.

Since then services have grown to meet the changing needs of service users. Today, Imagine provide services in the two main areas of Accommodation and Life Opportunities.

Imagine’s Accommodation schemes provide quality housing and support and work in partnership with a number of housing associations to offer a wide range of properties.

Imagine provide numerous housing services, including 24 hour staffed accommodation, outreach support and specialist schemes, such as a womens’ only supported housing project.

Expansion in accommodation services, has been the introduction of the Floating Support scheme, which provides flexible support and advice to tenants living in their own homes.

Life Opportunities schemes support service users in accessing activities of their own choosing. The social inclusion project Mainstream and Befriending Service encourage service users to integrate within the community.

Imagine’s Supporting Choice scheme enhances service users’ opportunities with a wide range of therapeutic activities and our Training Project provides literacy, numeracy and computer skills.
