Time to update my website and direction

As we enter 2008 I felt it was time to take stock and make ready for the coming year. I am still very keen to make documentaries and hopefully I will have some interesting commissions in the coming year.

However, I have been slowed up a little by my illness in the last 12 months which has meant me concentrating on other areas of my creativity. I have been asked to design web sites for different organisations and individuals, which has kept the creative juices flowing.

So, the break has been useful to brush in this area of my expertise. It seems more and more people want content management systems so they can take charge of their own websites.

No doubt this has much to do with the blog explosion in the past few years. I am capable in javascript, php, mysql and therefore have taken to setting up and “skinning” open source databases such as Joomla and Wordpress.

While designing a site for a client I thought that maybe it is time to set up a Journal of my own. So here goes………

I loved the design of my flash site but it was very draining on resources bandwidth wise.

I think a lot of people left the video loops playing which was great for them but expensive for me.

I will have to think about trying to organise a way that I can stream video and make the site pay for itself.

So here is to 2008 hopefully a creative year documentary and cms web design.
