Designing for mentors

I meet such interesting people in my work. Two recent design contracts have introduced me to the work of Mike Pegg and Bengt Elmén.

I was first contacted by Bengt who simply wanted a basic template for his site which needed a freshen up and behind the scenes makeover. Bengt is an amazing person which would be better explained by visiting Bengt’s bio page.

Mike PeggMike Pegg works with many leading companies and is a pioneer of the “strengths” philosophy of personal and group development. Mike wanted a new CMS based site to unite his personal blog with his established site. This was achieved by writing a solution in php on a Wordpress database and redesigning his site from the database upwards.

One word of advice to anyone out there who plans to embark on a project for a mentor such as Bengt or Mike, these guys now exactly what they want and exactly what they do not want. Even to the extent of taking charge of the design process, which is fine as long as the client is happy with the end product and they were.

You may also want to check out Mike’s Blog you will find an excellent free set of tools for using the strengths philosophy to tackle problems in business and life in general. Mike’s 3 tips series. Well worth a look in.
